Our certified organic Raw Cacao is made by cold-pressing unroasted cacao beans. Raw Cacao tastes rather bitter on its own and is often made into powder form which can be added to other foods.
What’s the difference between Cacao powder and Cocoa powder?
There is a huge difference actually. Despite coming from the same plant, it comes down to how both are processed. Raw Cacao is a less refined version of Cocoa (what they use for chocolate) and is processed at low temperatures. It is then milled into powder, retaining its nutrient dense qualities, gaining it a Superfood status. Cocoa however, is processed at high heat and looses most of its nutritional value in the process. Cocoa powder is often added with sugar, oil, or dairy to enhance and sweeten the taste.
